I am Inhyuk Song, a master’s student in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea. I work in the Interactive TEchnology & Methodology Laboratory (ITEM Lab), advised by Seungjae Oh.

I develop computational models of human perception, with a focus on touch. My goal is to use simulation-based optimization to personalize sensory feedback, making it easier to interpret and helping users interact more precisely.

My research spans tactile perception modeling, adaptive feedback for mid-air interaction, and perceptual analysis of haptic devices. Across these projects, I enjoy turning a question about human experience into a model or prototype, examining where it fails, and revising the assumptions behind it.

Education

Kyung Hee University — Master’s studies in Artificial Intelligence
September 2025 – August 2027 (expected)

Kyung Hee University — Bachelor’s degree in Software Convergence
March 2018 – August 2025 · College of Software Convergence · Game Contents Track

Military service — Republic of Korea Air Force
July 2020 – April 2022

Research experience

I joined ITEM Lab as an undergraduate researcher in September 2024 and continued as a graduate student researcher when I began my master’s studies in September 2025.

Before joining the lab, I participated in undergraduate team projects on text-to-3D asset post-processing, RGB-D scene reconstruction for VR guidance, and hand-tracked VR locomotion. These projects developed my background in graphics and interactive systems. See undergraduate projects.

Teaching

Teaching Assistant — Game Engineering (SWCON314)
Kyung Hee University · 2026 – present

I conduct practical sessions as the course’s sole teaching assistant. The course connects kinematics and numerical optimization in Unreal Engine with hand-motion prediction and neural-network inference in Unity.

Teaching Assistant — Game Interactive Technology (SWCON312)
Kyung Hee University · Spring 2026

I supported practical instruction on connecting physical input to virtual interaction in Unity, including the Input System, custom HID devices, OpenXR and Oculus integration, controller input, and hand tracking and pose detection.

Teaching Assistant — Introduction to Game Programming (SWCON211)
Kyung Hee University · Fall 2025

I supported practical instruction in Python/Pygame input handling, motion simulation, collision detection using AABB and SAT, impulse-based collision response, and PyOpenGL rendering. The exercises connected mathematical descriptions of motion and contact to game implementations.
